October 2023

October 12

Hello, Nomidachi!

We're back from our fantastic voyage to Japan, and though we missed Saké Day (Oct. 1) here, we were able to raise (and empty) a few glasses with some close friends in Iwate, and we didn't fret too much because we new we'd be returning to you and our annual Sakétoberfest at Saké Nomi.

For us, that means lots of new sake and sake related events, including this little get together this MONDAY (Yes, we'll be open 2-8 pm), October 16 at 6-8 pm. . .

Meet the Brewer Tasting Event
Monday, October 16 @ 6:00- 8:00 pm
Save the date and please be there!!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT/REMINDER:

We will be OPEN Monday, 10/16 for an extraordinary Sakétoberfest edition of “Meet the Brewer,” with our featured guest from Aichi prefecture's Banjo Jozo, brewer of Kamoshibito Kuheiji sake.

From 6 pm Monday evening, Mr. Matei Nicolae will make a brief formal presentation about Kuheiji and will be available to chat and answer questions until we close at around 8 pm.

We’ll be featuring a specially priced tasting flight of 3 different, decidedly “high end” (maybe consider some very early holiday gift shopping?) brews (tasting notes below) which will also be available for retail purchase in limited quantities.

Featured sake will include:

Kamoshibito Kuheiji “Eau du Désir”
Junmai Daiginjo
Yellow rose coloring with multitude of tiny bubbles. Gorgeous aroma of rose petals.
Exceptional balance of the go mi (5 flavors) of sweetness, dryness, acidity, astringency and bitterness, plus umami. Soft, full significant weight to the mouthfeel and pronounced liveliness. “Perfect!” according to Taiko. ($)

Kamoshibito Kuheiji Kyou Den
Junmai Daiginjo
Greenish tinge with notes of apple and Asian pear in the nose. Soft texture with medium weight on the palate. Bracing acidity and an impression of liveliness with tiny bubbles. Impactful, but elegant, with all the action up front before the quick, disappearing finish. ($$)

Kamoshibito Kurodasho Cho Tako
Junmai Daiginjo
Fairly pronounced shiny gold coloring with white peach and pear fragrances. Lively, with a soft mouthfeel and prickliness of effervescence. Faint bitter undertone and minerality in the slightly lingering finish. And, oh yeah, umami! ($$$)

We hope you can join us Monday. Kanpai!
