Greetings, Nomidachi!
And just like that, summer seems to have disappeared . . .
Not to worry: In Japan, they say autumn is the best season for enjoying delicious food, drink, and napping.
With the selections mentioned below, we've got you covered on the drink front, and that may lead to the napping bit.
We continue to bring in as much new premium Japanese sake as we can get our hands on, and we definitely feature them on the rotating weekly menu.
If you have a chance in the coming days and weeks, please stop by and we'll endeavor to introduce you to some new favorites.
As ever, thank you so much for your feedback and support.
Arigatou & Kanpai!

Temporary Schedule Change: Sept. 15-30
Due to a dog-sitting "situation" (nothing serious, but it can't be avoided), beginning tomorrow, September 15, our hours of operation for the next couple weeks will look like this:
Tues.- Sat.: 3:00- 8:00 pm
Sun.- Mon.: CLOSED
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this temporary change in circumstances, and we'll do our best to keep the inconvenience to a minimum.
Mostly a very good boy . . .
New & Rare Sake Arrivals
KID Junmai Ginjo Hiyaoroshi (Wakayama)
The last time this sake was available, we only received one case, so not many of us got to try it. This year, we think availability will be a little better, and we are featuring it on our current menu by the glass and have 20 or so bottles in the fridge now.
Some technical notes and our first impression:
Rice Polish Ratio: 50-55%
Rice: Gohyakumangoku
SMV: +1.5
ABV: 15%
Fairly dark gold, almost amber tint, with soft fruit fragrance (strawberry?) and faint notes of dairy/cream in the nose. Soft mouthfeel with solid acidity.
ETA: Limited stock on hand now. Next delivery possibly 9/20 (order by 9/16)
Price: $50/720 ml
Kaze no Mori Alpha Type 3 “Bridge to the World” Junmai Daiginjo (Nara)
Brand new to the US! The brewer offers this pasteurized version of their sake so people outside Japan can “enjoy the animated vibrancy of a freshly pressed sake in hopes that it will serve as a ‘Bridge to the World.’”
ETA: Limited stock on hand now. Next delivery possibly 9/20 (order by 9/16)
Price: $50/720 ml
And, as an added bonus, we are so psyched that this gem is available to us again:
TAIHEIZAN TENKO MUROKA NAMA GENSHU
Brewery: Kodama Shuzo (est. 1879)
Region: Akita
SMV: +/- 0
Type/Polish Ratio: Junmai Daiginjo/40%
Tasting Notes: Rich, balanced, deep umami flavor with a very faint touch of caramel and toffee. Quite simply, one of the best, most impressive sake we’ve tasted in a long while (and we drink pretty good sake every day).
ETA: 9/20, if we receive your confirmed order by 9/16.
According to the distributor, there are only 10 bottles available. We’ll snatch them all, if there’s enough interest/demand.
Price: $100/720 ml
