May 10

Helloooo, Nomidachi!

First of all, it's been too long, we know. We'll endeavor to be more timely in these communications, and try not to rely solely on our Facebook and Instagram accounts, and the short (often pithy), graphic messages they encourage. That being said, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram . . .

As we approach Saké Nomi's 15th (!!!) anniversary (at the end of next month), we've been reflecting on some of the ups and downs and the victories and defeats we've weathered. We're glad to say the good times have far outweighed the bad, and our relocation last year gives us inspiration and optimism that the best times for Saké Nomi are yet to come.

We've been thinking, too, about all the "firsts" we've experienced as the first combination premium sake-only retail shop and tasting bar (in Japanese, kakeuchi or tachinomi) in Seattle (and the US!), and one of the activities that gives us the biggest sense of accomplishment is our promotion of limited seasonal release unpasteurized namazake. Before Saké Nomi existed, these rare delights had not been available to Seattle sake lovers!

This year's last "wave" of spring namazake has begun to arrive, and some of the details are below. If you're interested in reserving a few bottles, please get in touch, and we'll hook you up.

Please continue to keep an eye out for our anniversary-related announcements in the coming days and, as always, THANK YOU for your kind support over the years. Please know that you have touched our lives in ways we never imagined when we set off on this adventure, and for that we continue to be truly grateful.

We hope to see your lovely faces again soon!

Kanpai!

The Last Wave of 2022 Spring Namazake is Arriving . . . NOW!

KID Haru no Kunpu (“Spring Breeze”) Junmai Ginjo (Wakayama)
Last spring, we only received a dozen bottles and they were gone before we had a chance to do any tasting notes. This year, the availability is better, and we’re pleased to bring it back. According to the importer, “After a long winter, this spring sake gives you hints of flowers blooming, finishing dry and crisp.”
Price: $40/720 ml bottle
ETA: In-stock now and featured on this week's tasting menu

Denshin Haru “Spring”
Junmai Ginjo (Fukui)
This nama (unpasteurized) genshu (undiluted) has a brilliant golden hue with a gorgeous floral and candied bouquet.  Richly flavored, with intense ripe peach fruitiness on the palate.  Viscous, almost syrupy texture is nicely contrasted with perfect acidity.
Price: $45/720 ml bottle
ETA: This Friday, 5/13

Koshi no Homare Kura Homare Daiginjo Muroka Nama Genshu
(Niigata)
Brand new to Washington, and super limited, we are thrilled to be getting out hands on 12 bottles of this treat. In the words of the importer, “Fruity aroma of apple and melon expands in your mouth. Complex, elegant fruity taste with crisp and bracing impression.”
Price: $120/720 ml bottle
ETA: Next Tuesday, 5/17

Urakasumi “Shiboritate” Tokubetsu Junmai Namazake (Miyagi)
This namazake is a brand new arrival to Washington, from one of our favorite and most respected breweries. According to the importer, “Fruity aroma of peach and mango. Refreshing mouthfeel and expansive round taste with moderate umami.”

ETA: Next Tuesday, 5/17

Masumi “Arabashiri” Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu (Nagano)
Saké Nomi’s most popular limited seasonal release returns!  Fruity (melons and pears) and full-bodied, with a pleasantly crisp acidity.  This nama (unpasteurized) genshu (undiluted saké) also packs a lovingly assertive punch at 17-18% alcohol.
Price: $50/720 ml bottle
ETA: Late May-Early June
