April 2022

April 5

Hey There, Nomidachi!

We hope you’ve weathered that first rough quarter of 2022, and we’ve got something of a reward for you to enjoy in the days ahead. That’s right, even more namazake has become available, and we are featuring it this week and the next.

The first four selections have been here before, and the last two are brand spankin’ new to Washington!

Thanks so much for your continued encouragement and support!

Here’s what’s coming, and when . . .

Rihaku “Origins of Purity” Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu (Shimane)
Limited seasonal release! Fairly pronounced golden tint, with aromas of peach, mango, kiwi, nectarine, and a touch of mint.  Silky, soft mouthfeel, with citrusy flavors of young fruit on the palate.  Richness and depth of flavor with an overall impression of being substantial but not overpowering.
Price: $60/720 ml bottle
ETA: Available now, with additional shipment arriving Friday, April 8
Ri
Fukucho “Moon on the Water”
Junmai Ginjo Namazake (Hiroshima)
Limited seasonal release! The nose shows notes of pine needles, oranges, cloves, ginger, and persimmon. Lively and fairly acidic on the palate (nearly carbonated!).  Juicy and sharp melon flavors contrast nicely with the sake’s soft texture.
Price: $60/720 ml bottle
ETA: Available now, with additional shipment arriving Friday, April 8

Ama no To
“Heaven’s Door”
Tokubetsu Junmai Namazake (Akita)
Limited seasonal release! Salt and mineral essences.  The medium body and soft texture make it a good “food sake” (parmesan cheese will be delightful).  Vaguely sweet, though with a drier, somewhat sharp finish and a touch astringent in the end.
Price: $50/720ml bottle
ETA: Available now, with additional shipment arriving Friday, April 8

Taka "Noble Arrow"
Tokubetsu Junmai Namazake (Yamaguchi)
Limited seasonal release! Golden, slightly hazy coloring with vaguely citrus and mineral notes in the nose. Soft, pretty mouthfeel. Mildly sweet, but with tart, almost sour accents, as well. Nice acidity and a finish that kind of hangs around.
Price: $50/720ml bottle
ETA: Friday, April 8

And, the newbies to arrive next week (Tuesday, 4/12) . . .
